History

Kevin Lowe & Sam AbouhassanWith a long, distinguished history in Alberta, the Tee Up For Tots Golf Invitational has a reputation for supporting the health and well-being of children in our communities.

Started by Sam Abouhassan and Kevin Lowe in 2000, Tee Up For Tots has grown to become an annual signature event hosted by, and in support of, the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. Raising more than $10 million since its inception, the tournament has led to ground-breaking innovation and research opportunities, and technological advancements at the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton.

And its legacy continues…

In recent years, the Foundation directed more than $4 million of those funds to build the only dedicated pediatric emergency department in Northern Alberta which opened its doors in 2012. In 2014, Tee Up For Tots supported much needed enhancements to the Hospital’s growing ambulatory care services which can now adequately handle more than 120,000 patient visits a year.

“The expanded clinical space enables us to treat more families in a facility better suited to the growing needs of children and families,” says Dr. Christine Kyriakides, facility medical director at the Stollery. “Many of our patients have multiple, complex needs and the ambulatory clinics offer a comprehensive, one-stop shop for families to see a variety of specialists.”

The many specialty and sub-specialty ambulatory clinics serve as a hub for all inpatient, surgical and critical care at the Stollery. Net proceeds from this year’s tournament will support investments in expanding the Hospital’s operative services and intensive care units.
